About Me

The name of this blog was taken from an essay title I used once on an exam question about Oedipus.  My professor drew a smiley face beside it.  I feel like it accurately sums up the essence and scope of my own personality when it comes to academia.

I’m an enormous ancient history nerd. I’m besotted with Ancient Greece and Rome and I love talking about it sweeping narratives. I have a particular fondness for Mithridates VI Eupator of Pontus, as well as Alcibiades of Athens.  I spent four years hidden away in the old books section of the UVIC library reading Herodotus, Suetonius, Thucydides, and all of my old world homies.  I even have a special piece of paper that says I know about this stuff. Let me take you on a journey back in time.
